Why road recycling

A modern, measurable way to rebuild Ireland's roads.

The traditional overlaying approach is slow, expensive and carbon-heavy. Recycling does the same job - better.

Lower cost

Reuse what's already there. Fewer materials necessary.

Shorter timelines

Single pass on-site recycling keeps projects moving.

Reused material

Existing road becomes the new base layer.

Lower emissions

Fewer truck movements means a fraction of the carbon.

Less haulage

Imported stone deliveries cut by up to 80%.

Stronger surface

Stabilised, recompacted base delivers a long-life road.

Our process

Five stages. One pass. Road ready.

From survey to final compaction — everything happens on site, with our own specialist fleet.

  1. 01
    Assess

We assess the road condition, existing material, levels and finished surface requirements.

  2. 02
    Crush & Recycle In Place

Existing road material is crushed, mixed and processed in place — in a single specialist pass.

  3. 03
    Grade & Profile

The recycled material is graded and shaped to the correct profile, levels and drainage falls.

  4. 04
    Compact

The surface is compacted using Roadteam's rollers to create a strong, stable foundation.

  5. 05
    Surface Dressing & Final Finish

Roadteam can leave the road ready for final surfacing or carry out surface dressing in-house as part of the overall recycling package.

Proven Carbon Savings Through Road Recycling

70.78% carbon emissions reduction achieved on a South Donegal road recycling project.

On a recent Donegal County Council road recycling project, Roadteam's in-situ road recycling method was assessed against a traditional overlay method using imported Clause 804 material. The assessment showed a 70.78% reduction in carbon emissions by reusing and processing the existing road material in place.
